Edinburgh Whisky Academy

Edinburgh Whisky Academy (EWA) were delivering high quality training days in Scottish distilleries and hotels for their Diploma in Scotch Whisky. Feedback was fantastic but organising and hosting these training days was labour intensive and complicated in terms of managing the diaries of their experts.

EWA wanted not only to be able to deliver the diploma online, but they also wanted to create more courses and quickly to take advantage of the surge in interest they were getting from Scotch Whisky lovers and industry professionals.

Discussions started in late 2019 and course development started in January 2020. Then COVID-19 put everyone in lockdown and EWA‘s ability to deliver training days at distilleries totally dried up.

By the end of 2020, eLamb had developed 7 courses for EWA that they were selling to customers via their website and delivering via our Learning Management System. We had translated one of those courses into 7 languages, (Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Mandarin, Turkish and Vietnamese).

Staggeringly, by the end of 2020 they had delivered these courses in 110 countries. That is from 1 country just 12 months earlier, in a time when many training companies were unable to get in to offer services to their customers.

We also gave EWA the source files of the courses we created, so they can manage and edit these courses themselves going forward…although we are happy to still help them out!

We started working with eLamb in 2019 when we were looking for eLearning development and expertise as well as finding an affordable and efficient LMS.  The courses they have created for us have been engaging and premium with superb feedback from all of our candidates.  The development of the online courses has allowed us to grow significantly through being able to serve an international audience.  The recent pandemic has further highlighted the importance and value in online learning as we were able to continue training despite travel restrictions.

Mark and his team have been on hand for any questions we have had, and despite some tight deadlines, the development team has always managed to deliver high-quality content on time.
